Draft. This text describes how HopGrid works today. It has not yet been reviewed by a qualified legal professional and has no effective date.
This policy describes the personal information HopGrid uses, why, and who sees it. It describes what the app does today.
What we collect
- From your Google sign-in: your name, email address and whether Google has verified it.
- What you add: phone number, photo, gender and date of birth (all optional), your vehicles, and your driving licence details and document if you offer rides.
- What you do in the app: the rides you offer, your searches saved as drafts, your requests and bookings, payments, ratings, support requests and safety reports.
- Location: the places you choose, and during a ride the vehicle's live position sent by the driver's app for tracking.
How we use it
- To match rides, work out fares, take payments and make refunds.
- To verify drivers, confirm boarding and show a ride's position to its participants.
- To show ratings, answer support requests and review safety reports.
- To apply the rules in the Terms, such as suspensions.
What other users see
- Your first name, photo, ratings, and whether your account is verified.
- For a ride you share: your pickup and drop, and for the driver the vehicle and its registration number.
- Never your phone number, email address, licence document, payment details or the text of your support requests and safety reports.
Who else receives information
- Google, for sign-in and maps (places and routes).
- Our payment partner, to take UPI payments, make refunds and pay drivers. Your UPI ID and bank details are handled by them and are not stored by us.
- Our cloud hosting provider, which stores the data, including photos and licence documents; licence documents are kept in private storage.
- Anybody you send a share link to sees what that link shows (a ride, a tracking view or an invoice) until it expires.
Location and tracking
A ride's live position can be seen only by the people on that ride, and through a tracking link one of them chose to share. Tracking opens shortly before a ride and ends with it.
Keeping and deleting
Records of rides, payments, invoices, ratings and restrictions are kept because they are needed for accounts, disputes and safety. Recent places and drafts are temporary and expire by themselves. The app does not yet have a way to delete an account yourself; ask through Contact Support.
Your choices
- You can change your profile, photo and vehicles in Account.
- Optional details can be left empty.
- For anything else about your information, send a request through Contact Support.
